Hi Dude!
As i previously posted that Microsoft has announced to release service pack 3 for SQL 2005 by the last quarter of this year which means that we still have a lot to get from SQL 2005;
http://talatnauman.blogspot.com/2008/04/hot-news-sql-2005-sp3.html

According to vast majority of SQL professionals at SQL official sites, upgrade coming so soon after the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is overwhelming and would either stay on SQL Server 2005 indefinitely or avoid an interim upgrade to SQL Server 2005 and go straight from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2008. ( http://www.sqlmag.com/Article/ArticleID/96876/sql_server_96876.html ).

I am not pessimistic in acclaiming the new release, however as new technology is put into play by early adopters: bugs and enhancements are found and suggested - maturing the technology and making it easier to learn. Currently Katmai (SQL 2008) is in that phase and It might take till the end of 2009 to get first Service Pack of SQL 2008.

In short, the likely hood of moving to SQL 2008 is dependent firstly upon the intense features analysis and the knowledge gained with a comparison of your requirements in future.
This can be achieved by Trainings and testing to get enough knowledge and getting our hands dirty with CTP edition of SQL 2008 to decide for an upgrade!
Simply, you can't just upgrade your live db servers to SQL 2008 by just taking account of its cool features only!
Hope that helps!!!!
